Chestnuts are a quick and simple way to get a flavorful healthy snack. First they are brought to simmer in a pot of water and then roasted in the oven to soften them up.

*Be careful* Using a bread knife, cut a slice across half of each Chestnut. Try to keep the cut just on the shell, not too deep. This will let the water in and give a place to open later.
Place all the Chestnuts into your pot of cold water and bring to simmer.
Set your oven to 425 F and wait until ready.
Take out the Chestnuts and place on your oven tray, I used tinfoil to save cleaning. Place in oven.
Cook in oven for 15 minutes, now you're done cooking!
Let cool and peel, I placed them in the freezer for 5 minutes because I was hungry.
