A fall favorite in our family: spicy oatmeal cookies with an apple filling! Like mini apple pies!

Heat oven to 375 degrees.
In a saucepan, combine the apples, the 1/2 cup cane sugar and the nuts. Add 4 Tbsp. water. Cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture is thick and the apples are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Cream the butter and the 1 cup of cane sugar.
Beat in eggs.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves.
Add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture.
Stir in the oatmeal.
On a greased baking sheet, drop dough from teaspoon. Make depression in the center. Top with about 1/2 teaspoon of apple filling.
Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes
